Hotel & resort marketing · Ayodhya, Uttar PradeshNew stays keep opening in Ayodhya. Stand out.

Since the Ram Mandir opened, pilgrims have come from every corner of India, and so have new stays. We help hotels, guesthouses and homestays get found and booked directly.

The Ayodhya market

Who comes to Ayodhya, and why

Ayodhya, on the Saryu river, is revered as the birthplace of Lord Ram. The Ram Mandir was consecrated on 22 January 2024, and since then Ayodhya has become one of the busiest pilgrimage towns in the country. Pilgrims come for darshan of Ram Lalla, and also visit Hanumangarhi, Kanak Bhawan, the Saryu ghats around Ram ki Paidi and the evening Saryu aarti. Deepotsav, held on the eve of Diwali, lights the ghats with lakhs of diyas.

Guests come from across India. Many travel from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi, and a growing number fly in from Gujarat, Maharashtra and the south. Families and groups often come for one or two nights, and many combine Ayodhya with Varanasi and Prayagraj. Ram Navami, Deepotsav, Diwali and the anniversary of the consecration bring the biggest crowds, and weekends and school holidays stay busy through the year.

The stay market is changing fast. New hotels have opened along Ram Path and the highway, alongside older dharamshalas and guesthouses. The UP tourism department's paying guest scheme lets local families register their homes as homestays, and the Ayodhya Development Authority lists them on its app. That means more choice for guests and much more competition for owners, which makes a clear Google listing, honest photos and good reviews matter more than ever.

Who books

Who stays in Ayodhya

  • Pilgrim families

They come for Ram Lalla darshan with parents and children. They want a clean room close to the temple, vegetarian food and help with darshan timings and queues.

  • Circuit travellers

They combine Ayodhya with Varanasi, Prayagraj or Chitrakoot over a few days. They look for easy parking, early checkout and clear directions.

  • Groups and yatra buses

Temple groups, housing societies and yatra organisers book many rooms at once. They need group rates, simple meals and space for a bus.

  • Festival visitors

They come for Deepotsav, Ram Navami or the consecration anniversary. They book early and want a stay they can reach when roads are restricted.

The year

When guests come to Ayodhya

  1. Peak season

    October to March

Deepotsav, Diwali, winter holidays and the January consecration anniversary bring the biggest crowds. Open festival bookings early and keep availability accurate everywhere.

  2. Ram Navami and summer

    April to June

Ram Navami in March or April brings a big rush, then hot weather slows weekday demand. Market air-conditioned rooms, early darshan tips and summer holiday family rates.

  3. Monsoon

    July to September

Humid and rainy, with fewer families travelling. Sawan brings some devotees. A good time for weekday offers, group bookings and getting your reviews and photos in order.

Getting here

Maharishi Valmiki International Airport opened near the city in December 2023, with flights from cities including Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The redeveloped Ayodhya Dham station has direct trains including Vande Bharat services, and Ayodhya Cantt (Faizabad) is nearby. By road, Lucknow is about 130 km away, roughly two and a half to three hours, and Varanasi is a longer drive. On festival days, roads near the temple are restricted, so guide guests on routes and parking.

The hard part

What makes marketing in Ayodhya hard

Ayodhya has strong demand, but supply is growing just as fast.

  • New hotels, guesthouses and homestays keep opening, so guests have a lot of look-alike choices.
  • Many listings claim to be "near Ram Mandir", and guests can't easily tell who is actually close.
  • Festival days bring road restrictions and huge queues, and guests sometimes blame their stay for the stress.
  • Most guests stay only one or two nights, so there is little time to win repeat business.
  • Big OTAs and aggregators take a large share of bookings, especially from first-time visitors.

We can't shorten the darshan queue, but we can help guests choose you with confidence and book you directly.

What we'd do

What we'd do for your Ayodhya stay

Here's how we'd approach a hotel, guesthouse or homestay in Ayodhya.

  1. Honest distance to the temple

A map with real walking or e-rickshaw times to Ram Mandir, Hanumangarhi and the Saryu ghats. Honest distance builds trust and cuts angry reviews.

  2. Google listing for darshan searches

A complete Google Business Profile with the right pin, parking details, real photos and answers for searches like "hotel near Ram Mandir Ayodhya".

  3. A darshan help page

Current temple timings, what guests can carry, dress tips and how festival road restrictions work. Keep it updated, and link to official sources.

  4. Festival booking pages

Early pages for Deepotsav, Ram Navami and the consecration anniversary, with dates, rates and clear cancellation terms, shared on WhatsApp with past guests.

  5. Circuit and group packages

Simple packages for guests doing Ayodhya with Varanasi or Prayagraj, and group rates for yatra organisers, promoted on Google and through direct outreach.

  6. Reviews that mention care

Ask each guest to review the food, cleanliness and your help with darshan. Reply to every review, especially from the busy festival weeks.

Questions

Marketing a stay in Ayodhya

Something else on your mind? Ask us on WhatsApp.

So many new hotels are opening. How do I stand out?

Be the clearest and most helpful option. Show your real distance to the temple, real photos and honest prices. Keep your Google listing complete and reply to every review. Add a darshan help page and a quick WhatsApp reply. Many guests choose the stay that feels most trustworthy, not just the cheapest.

I run a homestay under the paying guest scheme. Is Google worth it?

Yes. Registration and the Ayodhya Development Authority app help, but many guests search on Google Maps first. A Google Business Profile with the right pin, home-cooked food photos and good reviews helps families find you. Keep your registration certificate handy, as some guests ask about it.

How should I market around festival road restrictions?

Be upfront. Explain on your site and in booking messages that roads near the temple can close on big days, and tell guests where to park or get dropped. Share the latest official advisories on WhatsApp before arrival. Guests who are warned early are calmer, and your reviews reflect that.

Should I serve only vegetarian food?

Most pilgrims expect it, and it is a strong selling point here. The municipal corporation has also resolved to ban the sale of meat and liquor along Ram Path. Say clearly that your kitchen is pure vegetarian, and whether you can cook without onion and garlic. Many families filter for exactly that.
