Homestay website design & marketingPeople book a homestay for the host. Let them meet you.

We build simple, warm websites for homestays across India and help guests find you on Instagram and Google Maps. Guests see your home, your food and your family, then message you on WhatsApp to book.

Why it matters

A listing shows a room. Your own page shows a home.

Guests don't choose a homestay the way they choose a hotel. They're looking for the family who'll cook for them, the walk to the waterfall you'll point them to, the view from the verandah. Booking sites squeeze all of that into a few photos and a price, next to fifty other places.

Your own website, a proper Google Maps listing and an Instagram that shows everyday life at your place give guests the whole picture. The ones who love it message you directly, and you keep the whole booking instead of paying a commission on it.

What's included

Everything a homestay needs to be found.

  • A simple, warm website

A few well-made pages that load fast on a phone and feel like your home, not a hotel chain.

  • Your story, told well

Who you are, how the house came to be, what makes your village or town special. It's the part guests remember.

  • Rooms, food and experiences

Each room, what you cook, and the things you can arrange: walks, farm visits, cooking lessons, bonfires.

  • Bookings on WhatsApp

Most homestay guests would rather message than fill in a form. A WhatsApp button on every page opens a chat with you in one tap.

  • Professional photo shoot

Photos of your rooms, your kitchen, your garden and the view. Good photos matter more for a homestay than anything else.

  • Google Maps listing

A complete Google Business Profile, so you show up when someone searches "homestay near" the place they're visiting.

  • Instagram that feels real

Regular posts and short videos of everyday life at your place: the breakfast, the seasons, the guests' favourite spots.

  • Local SEO

Your site set up for the searches guests make, like "homestay in Munnar with a view" or "farm stay near Coorg".

  • Reviews that build trust

An easy way for guests to leave a Google review, and friendly replies to every one. For a homestay, reviews are everything.

Template or custom?

Do you need a custom website, or will a template do?

Plenty of hosts start with a free homestay website template, and that's a fair way to begin. The design is rarely the problem. What makes a homestay website bring in bookings is what goes into it, and whether anyone can find it.

  • Photos: a template filled with dark phone photos will lose guests, however nice the layout is.
  • Words: guests want to know how to reach you, what the food is like and whether children or pets are welcome. Most template sites don't answer these.
  • Speed on a phone: many templates are heavy and slow on mobile data, which is how most guests in India will open your site.
  • Being found: a template doesn't set up your Google Maps listing, connect your site to Google Search Console or write titles for the searches guests make.
  • Upkeep: prices change, seasons change, you add a room. Someone has to keep the site current.

If you already have a template site you like, we can work with it and focus on photos, words, Google and Instagram instead.

Homestay marketing ideas

Six ways to get more direct bookings.

Small things, done regularly, that make a real difference to how many guests find you and book directly.

  1. Show the food

Home-cooked meals are one of the biggest reasons people pick a homestay. Post them, and describe them on your site.

  2. Put yourself in the photos

Guests want to see who they'll be staying with. A friendly photo of the family does more than another photo of the room.

  3. List what guests can do nearby

Walks, temples, waterfalls, markets, the best chai stall. It answers "what will we do there?" before anyone asks.

  4. Get on Google Maps

A complete Google Business Profile with photos and reviews is free, and it's often how travellers find a place to stay.

  5. Ask every happy guest for a review

On the last morning, over breakfast. Send them the link on WhatsApp so it takes ten seconds.

  6. Stay in touch with past guests

A message at Diwali or when the monsoon arrives, with a small offer for their next stay. Returning guests book direct.

How it works

From first message to your first direct booking.

  1. Tell us about your home.

Send us your homestay's name on WhatsApp. A few questions about the house, the rooms and the area.

  2. We look and send a plan.

We check your listings, Instagram and Google Maps, and send a plan with a clear price, usually within a day.

  3. Photo shoot.

We photograph your rooms, meals, garden, family and surroundings.

  4. Your site and listing, your OK.

You see the website and the words before anything goes live. Nothing launches without your approval.

  5. Launch on Google and Maps.

We connect your domain, set up your Google Business Profile and submit your site to Google.

  6. We keep it going.

Instagram posts, review replies and updates each month, with a short report on what brought guests in.

Questions

Homestay questions

Something else on your mind? Ask us on WhatsApp.

I only have two or three rooms. Is it worth it?

Yes. Small homestays often gain the most, because every booking that comes directly instead of through a booking site makes a real difference. We shape the work to your size, and you can start with just the website and Google Maps.

I already get bookings on Airbnb or Booking.com. Do I still need a website?

Keep your listings, they bring guests. A website and a proper Google listing sit alongside them and give guests a way to book you directly, especially repeat guests and people who found you on Instagram.

Can guests book on WhatsApp?

Yes. We set up your site so the booking button opens a WhatsApp chat with you, with a short message already typed in. If you use a booking engine, we can link to that instead.

Do I have to post on Instagram myself?

No. We plan and post for you. It helps if you send us a quick photo or video when something lovely happens, like the first snow or a festival meal.

How much does a homestay website cost?

It depends on how many pages you need and whether you'd like marketing too. Tell us about your place and we'll send a clear price within a day.

Do I own the website?

Yes. The website and your domain are yours. If you ever stop working with us, we hand everything over.
