Pondicherry, officially Puducherry, is the capital of a Union Territory on the Tamil Nadu coast and was a French colony until the 1950s. Getting here
Pondicherry is about 150 to 160 km from Chennai along the East Coast Road through Mahabalipuram, around three to four hours by car. Chennai airport is the main one for most guests. Puducherry has its own small airport with limited flights, including to Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The railway station has trains from Chennai and beyond through Villupuram. Bengaluru is about 310 km away, roughly six to seven hours by road through Krishnagiri.
