Getting here
Many guests drive from Brisbane, which takes roughly three to four hours up the Bruce Highway. Hervey Bay Airport has Jetstar flights from Sydney and Melbourne and Qantas flights from Brisbane, which suits whale season short breaks. For K'gari, barges leave from River Heads, about 20 minutes south of town, and cross to Kingfisher Bay and Wanggoolba Creek. A vehicle access permit is needed before driving on the island, and many guests take a tour instead.
