Getting here
Launceston Airport is about 15 km south of the city, with direct flights from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and some seasonal routes. The Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Geelong arrives at Devonport, about an hour's drive west, and new, larger ships are due to start in late 2026. Hobart is about 2 hours 20 minutes south by road, Cradle Mountain about 1 hour 45 minutes west and Freycinet about 2 hours south-east.
