College groups and school trips come in numbers. Pilgrims arrive for Chauragarh around Mahashivratri, when the town fills with devotees. Foreign guests are few, and most people plan the trip themselves on Google, Instagram and OTAs.
Stays are a mix of government MPT properties, mid-range hotels, older bungalow-style resorts and a growing number of homestays. Much of the town is run by the Pachmarhi Cantonment Board, so land and building are limited and many properties are small. Getting here
The nearest railway station is Pipariya, about 54 km away, with direct trains from Delhi, Nagpur, Pune, Kolkata and other cities, and taxis up the ghat road. The nearest airport is Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal, about 222 km away, roughly five hours by road. Jabalpur airport is about 300 km away. Buses run from Bhopal, Jabalpur, Nagpur and Indore. Stays should share clear directions from Pipariya and Bhopal.
